Site and Space Task Force
This task force was created to work toward the development of a Master Plan to allow Promise to continue to grow its ministry and adequately use the space we have been blessed with.
The main issues/needs that we are working to take care of with this plan:
————————————————————————-
-Lack of classroom / meeting space to accommodate Sunday morning worship, our children’s and youth ministries, Bible studies, and other activities throughout the week.
-A need for legally required security of classrooms and other associated space should we proceed with a preschool.
-We will soon be lacking adequate seating space for Sunday morning worship should we continue to be blessed with the steady growth in attendance we’ve experienced over the last two years.
-There will be a need to expand our parking lot, providing more spaces, to avoid running out of room like we did on Easter.
-One of the most exciting aspects of developing a master plan for the campus is our goal to develop some viable options to better utilize the undeveloped 25+ acres of cropland and woodland west of the ponds. This will likely include potential partnerships with complimentary facilities that are consistent with our mission.
Selection of a Consultant to work with us in developing this Master Plan:
————————————————————————-
The board sent out requests for proposals (RFPs) to five consultation firms with professional experience in church facility planning. After interviews and reviews of submitted proposals, Martin-Riley Architectural Firm was selected to assist us
Timeline and the planning approach to be used:
———————————————–
-We expect to enter a contract with Martin-Riley before the end of May and the planning process will kick off by early June.
-Martin-Riley representatives will first meet with Pastor Scott, the staff, the board and Elder representatives, and key ministry leaders to zero in on the primary needs within our church.
-The Martin-Riley representatives will then conduct at least three major brainstorming/planning sessions over the summer with a Focus Group that will likely include members of the task force, Pastor Scott, key staff representatives, representatives from the board and Elders, other volunteer leaders of key ministries, and likely some additional congregational members to assure that the focus group represents a good cross-section of our membership in terms of age, gender, background, interests, etc. The ultimate size of the focus group will be determined in consultation with Martin-Riley based on their experience with what works best. Our consultant may also use surveys or other techniques to gather additional input from congregational members during the process.
————————————————————————-
A draft of the Master Plan will be presented to the congregation by November 1 for review before a vote is taken by the congregation to approve this plan.
